The Jackie Mackay Collection is a reference library, dedicated to the assemblage and administration of an eclectic collection of books and related educational materials about craft and design in order to serve and support Nova Scotia´s craft community. The Jackie Mackay Library Collection helps promote the concepts of quality, creativity and inspiration, and is accessible to all Nova Scotians with an interest in craft and craft history.
The collection is the property of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council. The library’s resources are available to the public at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, located at 1061 Marginal Road in Halifax.
The library was initiated to honour the memory of Jackie Mackay, a talented artist, and weaver with an insightful voice as an arts activist. Jackie Mackay was an accomplished artist recognized as an Honorary Member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council.
The Jackie Mackay Library has been built and sustained by independent donors, through generous gifts of books and funds.
The NSDCC is currently working on an initiative that will eventually see the Jackie Mackay Collection able to lend books from its library. Volunteers and staff are excited about this new stage. While this work is ongoing, the NSDCC and NSCCD are pleased to present the searchable online Jackie Mackay Library Collection.
