Giving handmade is truly the essence of gifting!!

It’s time to take note that the holidays are coming soon enough. I’m thinking this year of tackling my gift list early and getting out shopping while there’s no snow on the ground, no heavy winter coat required; no lines and plenty of items in stock from which to choose.

Many of our local makers have been delivering their beautifully handcrafted wares to our Designer Craft Shop. Here are just a couple gift ideas we have on our shelves to get you started on your gift giving list.

Rhonda Millers’ handbound books are creatively finished and filled with creamy paper that’s a treat to write or draw on. Having studied ancient bookbinding techniques, Rhonda adds her own modern flair as she lovingly assembles and hand-stitches each journal. Durable and beautiful, they easily tuck into a pocket or purse.

Or if you’d like to gift the experience of learning right from the maker herself, why not “Gift a Class” with Rhonda Miller. We’ll be hosting winter workshops in marbelled paper and bookbinding here at the NS Centre for Craft & Design. We’d be happy to create a personalized gift certificate if you call our office at (902)-492-2522.

Hermann-Suzuki Pottery has a distinctive style and is wonderfully finished.  Add a spicy hot chocolate or apple cider recipe and you’ll warm the heart of someone special on

 your list.
