Welcome to the The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design (NSCCD). We are located in the Seawall Development Project immediately to the north of Pier 21 National Historic Site. NSCCD, now under the direction of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council, has five well-equipped studios in pottery, jewellery and metal, woodworking, textiles, and multi-purpose where courses are offered to the public in spring, fall and winter semesters.

Our Fall 2009 Courses and Workshops brochure is now available, please click here

Also housed within the Centre is the Mary E. Black Gallery, Nova Scotia's only public gallery with a fine craft mandate, hosting local, regional, national and international fine craft exhibitions year round.

Sonic Gizmo was created by internationally renowned blacksmith John Little. Considering John's eminence in the field of blacksmithing and sound sculpture, it was decided that a piece of John's work in our urban landscape would contribute to the developing character of our neighbourhood, would encourage interaction and would inspire conversation. The hinged mallet must be hand-released to the gong to create the desired resonance. Sonic Gizmo is now permanently installed in front of the Centre/Mary E. Black Gallery.
